Today's Marketing Cookie is about finding your home.

I have a question for you to think about: What place do you call "home"? Is it the house where you grew up, or is it the place where you live today?  Is your home just "the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in", as Robert Frost once said, or is it that comforting place where you can rest your head on your old, familiar pillow?

For many business professionals, they are at the office or traveling so often, that their home is not much more than a temporary landing zone where they manage their laundry. In many cases, home is not where their heart lives, because they've left it in the office. Even when they are home, their heart is responding to every pulsing buzz of their iPhones, reading emails during dinner, attending conference calls in the car, and sending tweets on the couch.

I encourage you to examine where your heart lives. When you walk through the front door and sit down with your family, are you present, or is your heart elsewhere? Okay... are things tough at home? Well, I'm not a domestic counselor, but the best "home remedy" may be the idea of bringing your heart home with you after work more often.  Don't just show up - try being there too. I admire the fact that wherever you go in business, you always go with all your heart! I really do, but I'm also asking you to take inventory of your priorities and attempt to pursue a healthy balance.  Do it for you, and do it for the people who are trying to live with you, when you aren't really home.
